April Programs

For those of you who missed MIke Mulllin's visit, don't despair! A young volunteer from film club filmed it, and we'll be editing the film and posting the finished movie on youtube and on NCTV. So, even if you didn't get to see a mild-mannered author break bricks in person, you can see it on your computer or TV!

In the meantime, we've got a couple of exciting events scheduled for next month. Game club, tutoring club, and film club will be meeting as usual, but we also have a hands- on cooking class with Norma Chang on Friday, April 20, starting at 3:30.  If you like cooking and/or love Chinese food, you should come! You'll make different varieties of chicken stir fry and then you get to eat the food you've cooked. This is probably the tastiest program we do all year, and you shouldn't miss it.

The following Friday, April 27, we'll be showing the classic film about the sinking of the Titanic, "A Night To Remember".  This may be the best movie ever made about the century-old disaster. And, as always, we provide snacks and drinks. So, if you'r e interested in filmmaking or in the Titanic, be sure to come.

Author Visit!

Can a mild-mannered author break a cement block with his bare hands? Can he do it in the library?!

It's been a while, I know - but we've got a very exciting event scheduled for Tuesday, March 20 at 4:00. Do you love dystopian novels? Or scary books? or books about volcanoes? Or romance, or martial arts? If you have any interest at all in any of those things, be sure to come to the library to hear
Mike Mullin, author of the hit book "Ashfall". Mike tells the story of 15-year-old Alex, and his epic journey to find his family after the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts. And - Mike's also a black belt, and will be breaking cement blocks in the library! I can honestly say we've never had an event like this in the teen room. So come and watch Mike on Tuesday. It's sure to be unforgettable!  (Cross-posted from the teen room facebook page.)
